In my role as County Supervisor representing the largest municipality in Saratoga County on the Board of Supervisors, I have the honor of representing my Town and colleagues at various important events and ceremonies. Earlier this week I attended the presentation of a $1 million grant from Global Foundries to HVCC for a large-scale workforce development effort to train and educate our students to be competitive in their field of choice. Saratoga County has many programs that we offer through our County Workforce Development personnel. In recent years I have been intricately involved with other programs to train students for jobs ranging from lifeguards working throughout the County and the recruitment and training of future EMS Personnel. A few years ago, these programs were not available or needed. However, the world changed, and we needed to change with it. Offering free lifeguard classes and training to work on an ambulance became necessary to remove barriers to new people becoming involved in these lifesaving positions. Statistics show students who become lifeguards and EMS professionals move to other career tracks in the first responder and healthcare fields. We recently celebrated a number of individuals who went above and beyond to assist a fellow human being in distress and in the process saved lives. They represent various walks of life and positions in our first responder team here at the County. We salute and thank all of the individuals listed below. They represent the best among us.
