Playground on the Common Improvement Project

As the Town continues to research options for improvements to the Playground on the Common, a couple new and viable alternatives have become available. I have attached pictures of a project completed in Ithaca that offers some positive benefits. If you look closely, the project also features rubber matting which we plan to include in the new toddler section planned for the playground.

The company that built this project also directed us to the playground at the Charlton Heights Elementary School. This playground is similar to our current playground. In recent years, the playground was refurbished by replacing the real wood from the original construction with “plastic wood.” The plastic wood in the up close pictures is gray in color. By strategically replacing the worn sections of wood with the new material, it has resulted in a marked improvement. We will continue to pursue additional options and appreciate your feedback.
